AECOM’s aviation design experts are designing a new pier at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol as part of plans to increase capacity at the airport. This multidisciplinary project will strengthen Schiphol’s position as Europe’s main aviation hub.
We delivered a comprehensive masterplan of the development together with local architectural partners Cepezed. Our work also involves the preliminary, final and technical design stages, taking the project through to construction tendering.
The new pier design will give Schiphol airport eight new gates, including five for narrow-body aircraft on the north side. Three MARS (Multiple Apron Ramp System) gates on the south side will accommodate wide-body aircraft and connect six narrow-body aircrafts. In a later stage, two additional widebody gates will connect to the south side of the new pier.
The pier will handle three passenger categories, Schengen, non-Schengen and non-Schengen from non-secure destinations. It will connect to a new terminal development, and increase the airport’s passenger capacity by 14 million passengers per year.
